Paul Harris studied clarinet, piano and composition at the Royal Academy of Music in London. As a pupil of John Davies, he won the August Manns Prize for outstanding performance in clarinet playing. He studied composition under Timothy Baxter. He then went on to study music education at the University of London where he was a pupil of Professor Keith Swanwick. He has now established a reputation as composer, teacher, writer, examiner, adjudicator and performer. He has nearly three hundred publications to his name. These include works for many different instruments, tutors and other books that deal primarily with stimulating and helping young players to develop their musical skills. Among them are the highly acclaimed Improve Your Sight Reading series, which has sold nearly 300,000 copies worldwide. He has also edited a number of works and frequently writes articles on music education.
